The Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad detonated about a pound of plastic explosive found at an Auburn home on Saturday. Auburn police and fire personnel were sent to 394 Rochdale St. at 10:59 a.m. after a contractor conducting demolition work reported finding the explosives, fire Lieutenant Justin Brigham said. Chemicals were also discovered at the residence, but not completely identified because they were not in their original containers, Brigham said. Most of the chemicals were detonated along with the plastic explosives at the Auburn Police Department’s shooting range on Rochdale Street shortly before 3 p.m.
